"Eighth Wonder of the World," a solution for development.
At Discovering Africa Network we try to find solutions for development in Africa. About three years ago I sat down with a wise Ghanaian man, Isaac Leeward. He is a visionary who believes a time will come when Africa will blossom. At that time we discussed about, "The Eighth Wonder of the World," which is essentially the Recreation of the Sahara desert.
It will take 2 trillion dollars to convert the Sahara desert into a vegetation/forest, and approximately 75 years to achieve this goal.The reformed land can be a hub for new economic activities, like growing cash crops.
Recently, British scientists discovered huge reserves of underground water in some of the driest parts of Africa. This can be an avenue for converting the desert lands of Sahara and Kalahari into productive land. Read more
