Michael Kiwanuka is an amazing soul singer. He is destined for big things. While scavenging the internet for talent, I came across his work. His name caught my attention. Kiwanuka, is a name tied to Uganda. I did more research, and found out both his parents are from Uganda. His name Kiwanuka, is linked to the Buganda tribe of Uganda.
Kiwanuka is really talented, and deserves more exposure. He is a true artist. Someone who excels at his trade effortlessly.
With his beautiful blend of vintage soul, jazz elements, real heartfelt lyrics, captivating vocals that he describes as “hitting straight to the core” and acoustic guitar, the sky is the limit. He is a welcome element to the music industry, which is vastly a business now.
The debut single “Tell Me A Tale,” along with it’s equally beautifully crafted B-sides “I Need Your Company” and “Worry Walks Beside Me” formed Kiwanuka’s debut EP Tell Me A Tale which was released in June and went a long way in introducing Kiwanuka – who has also toured with the mighty Adele this year – to a much wider audience and place his name firmly on the lips of critics and tastemakers all over England.
The EP’s lead single and title track “I’m Getting Ready” is much better than words can describe, while the accompanying B-sides “I Need You By My Side” and “Any Day Will Do Fine” are as soulful and exceptional as ever.
